Bavarian Pancakes (Pfannkuchen)

Ingredients:

  • 250g / 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 dash salt
  • 375ml / 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 125ml / 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 tbsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tbsp butter to fry

Let’s create something tasty:

  1. Mix the flour, milk, eggs and salt with a hand mixer to form a smooth dough until it bubbles. Let the dough rest in the refrigerator for about half an hour.
  2. Take the dough out of the fridge, add a good splash of mineral water and stir briefly again.
  3. Initially heat the stove to the highest setting and add some butter to the pan.
  4. The most even way to make the pancakes is this way: Remove the hot pan from the heat and distribute the butter evenly by skillfully swirling it around. Now use a large ladle to put a ladleful of batter into the hot pan and spread it evenly by swirling it around.

Our tip:

  • Be sure to wait long enough until the underside is nicely browned and the pancake has set appropriately. You’ll notice this when you try to lift the pancake with the spatula. If this is easy, then you can easily turn the pancake without it tearing. Now bake the second side until golden.

Our recommendation as a side dish would be fresh fruits, apple or chocolate sauce.
