Ingredients:
Dough:
- 250g / 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 tbsp oil
- Salt
- 125ml / 1/2 cup water
Filling:
- 1.75kg apple
- 50g sugger
- 50g chopped hazelnuts or walnuts
- 60g butter
- 50g crumps
- Juice of half a lemon
Let’s create something tasty:
- For the strudel dough, make a smooth dough from the ingredients using a food processor or a mixer with a dough hook. Simply put everything in a mixing bowl and knead well.
- Then pour a good splash of oil over it, cover with cling film and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
- In the meantime you can prepare the filling. Peel the apples, slice them finely and pour lemon juice over them. Melt the butter in a pan, add the breadcrumbs and toast a little.
- Then mix everything together (sugar, apples, nuts and butter crumbs). If you like, you can also put everything individually on the pulled out strudel, but you should then use the butter crumbs as the bottom layer so that they can absorb the juice from the apples.
- Now comes the most exciting part, pulling out the strudel dough.
- Then spread the filling over the pulled out strudel and roll it up with the help of the tea towel. Finally, brush with melted butter and bake in a preheated oven at 180C / 350F for about 30 minutes.
Our recommendation as a side dish would be vanilla or apple sauce.
